November 2023 update: At the Nov. 21, 2023 Committee of the Whole Meeting, Council received a public consultation summary from Phase 1 of the updates to the Parks Master Plan. The presentation also included the technical analyses and emerging directions.

The City of West Kelowna is updating our Parks Master Plan and we want to hear from you! A Parks Master Plan is developed with the community to help prioritize how our City invests in the parks system.

We created our first Parks Master Plan in 2010 and updated it in 2016. These plans have helped us achieve projects like the CNR Wharf, Annette Beaudreau Amphitheatre, playground additions, field and court upgrades, and much more. Since the last update, West Kelowna has grown, our world has changed, and you have shared new ideas. Now it’s time to update the Parks Master Plan to reflect the West Kelowna of today.

Key dates

• May 17 to June 23: Round 1 engagement - COMPLETE
• Summer 2023: Drafting the plan based on community engagement and technical analysis
• Fall 2023: Round 2 engagement (Draft Parks Master Plan is shared for feedback)
• Fall 2023: The Parks Master Plan is brought forward to West Kelowna Council for consideration of adoption

About the project

We are kicking off the first phase of our engagement process and want to hear your thoughts and ideas to help decide how to invest in our parks system for the next five years and beyond. The focus for the Parks Master Plan is outdoor parks, open spaces, and waterfront areas managed by the City of West Kelowna. It does not include parks managed by the School District, Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO), Westbank First Nation (WFN), or others, though these great spaces are considered in our planning. Rec Trails Master Plan

Since parks and recreational trails are closely linked, we are updating the Parks Master Plan and the Recreational (Rec) Trails Master Plan together. Get involved and share your feedback on the Rec Trails Master Plan by June 23, 2023 to help shape the future of rec trails in West Kelowna.
