We're investing in park infrastructure to create a safer, more functional, and enjoyable recreational space for residents now and into the future.

The City of West Kelowna is undertaking the Ranch Park Field Improvements Project to address existing site challenges, including steep grades, shallow bedrock, water pooling, and aging chain-link fencing. These improvements will help maintain and enhance community infrastructure while supporting recreation opportunities and quality of life for current and future generations.

About the project

Ranch Park is an important community recreation space, and these upgrades will improve the long-term functionality, safety, and usability of the field and surrounding area.

The project is expected to include:

  • Sports field grading and site improvements
  • Drainage enhancements to address water pooling
  • Fencing upgrades and replacement of aging chain-link fencing
  • Associated site restoration and infrastructure improvements

These improvements will help ensure the park remains a valuable community asset for years to come.

Project budget

The total project budget is $694,000, which includes design, construction, and contract administration.

Construction schedule

Construction is anticipated to be completed by Sept. 2026.

Following construction, the field will remain closed to allow for establishment and recovery of the playing surface. The field is expected to reopen to the public in Spring 2027.

Construction schedules may be subject to change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, and other unforeseen factors.

What to expect during construction

During construction, residents and park users may experience temporary disruptions, including:

  • Restricted access to portions of the park and sports field
  • Increased construction vehicle and equipment activity
  • Temporary noise, dust, and vibration associated with construction activities
  • Temporary impacts to nearby pathways or park amenities as required for construction

The City and contractor will work to minimize disruptions wherever possible and will communicate any significant impacts as work progresses.
