We're investing in critical stormwater infrastructure to improve drainage and protect local roads and properties.
The City of West Kelowna will be undertaking drainage improvements along Menu Road near Ourtoland Road and on Vector Road by the cul-de-sac. These upgrades will enhance stormwater management in the area and support the long-term reliability of municipal infrastructure.
About the project
This project involves the installation and improvement of underground stormwater infrastructure to better manage runoff and drainage in the area.
The work is part of the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving essential infrastructure that supports safe and resilient neighbourhoods.
Construction schedule
The project is anticipated to begin on July 13 and reach substantial completion by mid-October.
While the overall project timeline extends through October, active construction affecting traffic is expected to occur intermittently throughout the project.
The construction schedule may be subject to change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, and other unforeseen factors.
What to expect during construction
Residents and road users may experience temporary disruptions during construction activities, particularly along Menu Road near Ourtoland Road and Vector Road near the cul-de-sac.
Construction impacts may include:
Single-lane alternating traffic on Menu Road as needed, depending on the contractor's schedule
Traffic control in place during active construction hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends may go till 7 p.m.
Normal traffic patterns restored outside of construction hours, including evenings and weekends
Increased construction vehicle and equipment activity
Temporary noise, dust, and vibration associated with excavation and construction work
Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain access for local residents throughout the project. Please note, construction will not be in effect through to mid-October. Outside of the two-week construction portion, remaining work will have little impact to traffic.
The City and contractor will continue to communicate any significant traffic impacts or schedule changes as work progresses.
