On Tuesday, August 27, West Kelowna Council received a staff report to provide an update at its regular Council meeting on the progress of the Fire Hall #32 Replacement Project. Read the full report or watch the Council Meeting webcast for more information.
About the project
We're enhancing safety in the Lakeview Heights neighbourhood by replacing Fire Hall #32, while improving our parks and recreation infrastructure to support our active community.
For many years, Fire Hall #32 has been identified in poor condition with several studies, plans and documents demonstrating the need for its replacement. This project has been elevated to the top of Council’s Strategic Priorities to move forward, with the assurance that no new tax increases to the community will result.
The replacement fire hall will consist of four bays, a large gear room, hose tower, SCBA room, workshop and living quarters.
The project also includes the following:
Removing the existing Lakeview Heights Community Centre, sport court, playground, and pickleball facilities
Construction of a new fire hall and community centre building
Installation of new pickleball courts and a new playground area
Parking area for the public and the fire hall
Public green space and general landscaping
Significant factors of the project include:
A new fire hall with room for future growth
Improved community space (community centre)
Improved park space (playground, pickleball courts)
Project development and design consistent with the new Official Community Plan and Council’s Strategic Priorities (accessibility)
The fire hall building structure and operations are fixed and are not open to public consultation. Fire rescue departments and other organizations with fire and life-safety design expertise helped inform the design and functional elements.

Thank you for participating in our questionnaire and sharing your feedback about community spaces and programming as part of the Fire Hall #32 Replacement Project.
Your feedback will be considered to enhance the design of the building and identify preferences for programming that reflects the needs of our community.
Community centres are vital spaces that promote resilient communities by facilitating active living, community connectedness, and fostering citizenship amongst residents of all ages, ability levels, backgrounds, identities, and financial means.
Our goal is to replace the community centre and develop the surrounding park and recreational spaces to best meet the needs of our diverse and growing city.
This anonymous questionnaire will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and all questions are optional. Thank you for your participation!
