Boucherie Multi-use Pathway Project

We are enhancing safety and extending active transportation infrastructure for our community along Boucherie Road.

Construction of a new multi-use pathway and road upgrades on Boucherie Road will enhance safety and create new active transportation, healthy living and tourism opportunities. The project is being constructed in two phases on and off Boucherie Road.

• Safety improvements approved for Boucherie Road: On July 25, Council approved additional design work and to proceed with construction for Gregory Road to Sunnyside Road. Council also directed staff to proceed with construction of the Mission Hill Road and Boucherie Road safety improvements. To learn more, read the Council Report.

Key dates

• Late March 2023: Early works and off-road construction begins
• May 15: On-road construction begins
• Fall 2023: Project complete

About the project

The $3.7 million project is being constructed in two phases, which will consist of:

• 800-metre pathway located along Boucherie Road from Ogden to Gregory Roads
• 1.6-kilometre multi-use pathway, located on and off Boucherie Road from Gregory to Green Bay Roads, with paved and crushed gravel sections
• 1.2 kilometres of upgrades on Boucherie Road from Ogden to Gregory Roads including road widening, concrete curbs, paving and drainage improvements
• 780 metres of bike lanes on Boucherie Road from Ogden to Gregory Roads
• Pedestrian-activated crosswalks at Gregory Road, Ogden Road and Mission Hill Road
• 725 metres of street lighting

What to expect during construction

Construction may cause occasional noise, dust, dirt and vibrations. Work outside of typical construction hours may be required temporarily. Driveway accesses will be maintained with minor interruptions for moving crews and equipment:

• Crews will mobilize to the site and stage equipment and materials
• Crews will complete stormwater and road upgrade work, install bike lanes and streetlights
• Pedestrian access will be maintained and cyclists will be detoured temporarily through Ogden Road to Montigny Road via Thacker Drive
• The contractor will coordinate local access for residents living within the work area to ensure continued access to their homes
• Signs and reader boards will be placed along the detour route to help regulate speeds

During all stages of construction, access for transit and emergency vehicles will be maintained. Trail users can continue to access Kalamoir Regional Park.
