Construction timelines
Off-road construction work began in late March 2023 and on-road work is now underway and will continue through the 2023 construction season. During construction, there will be traffic interruptions including temporary road closures and traffic pattern changes.
Construction activities have been planned when traffic volumes through the work area are reduced to minimize inconveniences to residents, our local tourism, and commercial establishments in the area. Read the pre-construction notice for more information about construction schedules.
Boucherie Road traffic impacts:
- May 15 to early July: Single-lane alternating traffic pattern from Montigny Road to Gregory Road. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes during this stage of construction.
- Early July through August: Boucherie Road closed weekdays from Ogden Road to Montigny Road. Traffic will be detoured via Ogden Road/Thacker Drive/Montigny Road.
- September through October: Single-lane alternating traffic pattern in effect along the frontage of Quails' Gate winery. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes during this stage of construction.
Boucherie Road Detour: In effect early July through August
What to expect during construction
Construction results in temporary inconveniences such as noise, dust, dirt, vibration and crew and equipment moving to and from the site. Work outside of typical construction hours may also be required on a temporary basis, once approved by the City. Property owner driveway access will be maintained with minor interruptions for moving crews and equipment.
- Crews will mobilize to the site and stage equipment and materials.
- Crews will complete stormwater and road upgrade work, install bike lanes and streetlights.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained and cyclists will be detoured temporarily through Ogden Road to Montigny Road via Thacker Drive.
- The contractor will coordinate local access for residents living within the work area to ensure continued access to their homes.
- Slow down signage and speed reader board will be in place along the detour route.
During all stages of construction, access for transit and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Trail users can continue to access Kalamoir Regional Park throughout construction.
