Review the draft plan
Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts during the first round of engagement!
During the first round of public consultation, we gathered input from our community to develop West Kelowna’s first Accessibility & Inclusion Plan. Based on this feedback, we have created a Draft Accessibility & Inclusion Plan, and it is now time for your review.
This draft plan outlines a path for building a community where everyone, regardless of ability, can actively engage in all aspects of daily life—now and in the future.
The objective of round two of community engagement is to inform and engage our community in the review process of the Draft Accessibility & Inclusion Plan, ensuring diverse perspectives are included in the final version.

About the AIC
The City of West Kelowna’s Accessibility & Inclusion Committee (AIC) was formed to bring together community members and organizations to work collaboratively with municipal staff. The committee discusses, develops, improves, promotes, and sustains community accessibility and inclusion. This includes reducing and removing barriers associated with accessibility, focusing on the experiences of people with different abilities, and fostering an inclusive community.
The first priority of the AIC is to create an Accessibility & Inclusion Plan designed to expand and improve accessibility options within our City.
In collaboration with committee and community input, our Accessibility & Inclusion Plan will help residents and visitors with varied abilities to use and enjoy our sidewalks, pathways, parks, trails, facilities, beaches and other attractions and amenities.
Your input is important
Residents and caregivers who experience accessibility barriers are encouraged to participate in the Draft Accessibility & Inclusion Plan questionnaire from Oct. 28 - Nov. 11, 2024.
Our Draft Accessibility & Inclusion Plan is a response to community input gathered during the first round of public consultation. The plan aims to create an accessible community for all residents, promoting participation in daily life and activities.
Community input is crucial to refining the draft plan and ensuring it meets the needs of our community.
The online questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and was designed with accessibility in mind. However, we recognize that not everyone accesses information in the same way.
Next steps
Following round two of community engagement, we will compile and integrate our community’s feedback into the final West Kelowna Accessibility & Inclusion Plan, which will be presented to Council for adoption consideration later this year.
