About
The City of West Kelowna’s Accessibility and Inclusion Committee (AIC) was formed to bring community members and organizations together to work collaboratively with municipal staff to discuss, develop, improve, promote, and sustain community accessibility and inclusion. This includes reducing and removing barriers associated with accessibility, focusing on experiences of people with different abilities, and fostering an all-encompassing community.
What’s happening
The first priority of the AIC is to create an Accessibility Plan designed to expand and improve accessibility options within our City.
In collaboration with committee and community input, our Accessibility Plan will help residents and visitors with varied abilities to use and enjoy our sidewalks, pathways, parks, trails, facilities, beaches and other attractions and amenities.

Your input is important
Residents and caregivers who experience accessibility barriers are encouraged to participate in the Accessibility Plan survey from April 9 – 30, 2024.
The survey seeks your input on these nine accessible areas of focus:
- Architectural/structural/design
- Attitudinal/social
- Emergency planning
- Information/communication
- Physical environment
- Sensory (lights, smells, sounds)
- Service
- Systemic/policy/procedure
- Technology
The online survey will take approximately 7-10 minutes and was designed with accessibility in mind. However, we recognize that not all people access information in the same way.
